Healing Through Hockey

The Dallas Stars Warrior program is dedicated to empowering disabled individuals and veterans through the transformative power of hockey. Our mission is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where players can build physical and mental strength, develop teamwork and camaraderie, and achieve personal and athletic goals. We are committed to honoring and serving those who have made sacrifices for our country, and to helping them thrive both on and off the ice.

Frank Demma

Army

Frank is a retired Army Chief Warrant Officer 5 and Counterintelligence Special Agent with 22 years of distinguished service, including multiple combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and overseas deployments to South Korea, Japan, the Republic of Georgia, Italy, Turkey, and throughout Africa. Decorated with the Legion of Merit, Bronze Stars, and Meritorious Service Medals, Frank brought his passion for service and love of hockey to the Dallas Warriors after retiring in May 2021. He quickly embraced leadership roles and is especially proud to have helped unite three veteran hockey programs, working closely with the Dallas Stars to form the Dallas Stars Warriors. Energized by the organization’s momentum, Frank looks forward to helping lead the team into a future filled with new opportunities and achievements, with a particular focus on expanding the organization’s philanthropic footprint and impact within the community.

Craig Fryer

Marine Corps

Craig Ryan Fryer grew up in Missouri and is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served two deployments in Iraq. One deployment to Fallujah and the other in Ramadi. After his military service, he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University. Craig began his engineering career designing spinal implants before transitioning to the aerospace industry, where he now works as an aerospace engineer at L3Harris

Chris LaValley

Army

Chris LaValley is currently serving as a senior sniper in the Texas Army National Guard. He has served as a sniper since 2006 and has multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as well as rotations in nearly a dozen other locations globally.

Chris grew up playing hockey and actually played high school hockey here in the metroplex. While stationed in Germany he played for the US Army- Germany hockey team. In 2010 he made the US Army- Europe team, representing the Army in the Armed Forces Europe International Tournament in Garmisch, Germany.

Dale Vogel

Marine Corps

Dale served in the United States Marine Corps from 2002 to 2006. During his time in service, he was part of the Dover Dignified Transfer Team as a Body Bearer, served as a docent for the Commandant of the Marine Corps in Washington, D.C., and worked at the Marine Corps Institute. He also spent time forward-deployed in Okinawa, Japan.

Chris Whipple

Navy

Chris joined the Navy shortly after 9/11 and served 5 years as an Avionics Technician on EA6B Prowlers. While in, he deployed to Iwakuni, Japan and Al Asad, Iraq.

After his military service, Chris worked as a government contractor and completed many deployments in support of the military to Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa and Europe.

He currently lives in North DFW with his wife and 3 kids and spends his free time playing hockey, traveling and doing whatever his kids want him to do.
